All successful delivery is about gathering momentum, the right direction and leadership - and being willing to shift and rebuild in-flight. With this philosophy – I've been able to create success even from the most adverse circumstances.
I can draw on a depth of experience working both client and supplier side, combined with an open approach that encourages true collaboration – essential to correctly diagnose issues, provide independent assessment, advice and coaching, to build or change with real pace. I’ve worked on a range of organisations and sectors - across government, major events, retail, hospitality, quick-service restaurants, and mobile phone operators - in Europe and the US.
I’ve advised on failing projects; recovered and re-focussed programmes; helped reshape directorates; and rebuilt client/supplier relationships from both sides. I’ve built high performing teams and through small, regular delivery – and consistently improved the top and bottom lines.
Since late 2012 I’ve worked mostly with major retailers, directly or through sector leading platform providers – who in themselves drafted me in to fix problems. From 2009 to 2012 I was seconded to the London 2012 Games, the Games represent the ultimate "hard" deadline that shaped my approaches to delivery and high-performing teams.
Prior to joining the IT industry I was a scientist, developing hypotheses and challenges to them. This is the mindset I bring, not shiny new tools or adherence to dogma, but the observation and analysis of a researcher building and testing hypotheses through data and fact.
I have experience both inside and outside the “big-4” having trained initially with Coopers & Lybrand, specialising in taxation, I took the opportunity to work for an international FTSE100 company (Intercontinental Hotels Group) as part of their tax team and completing the CTA.
I later re-joined professional services, back to the firm who were by then PwC, specialising in cross-border corporate tax planning working on secondment in Paris, before leaving PwC to consult through PtD.
Throughout I have continued to advise multi-national corporations on UK and cross-border tax issues, on meeting their international reporting obligations, implementing pragmatic changes to make the teams and the technologies as efficient and effective as possible – latterly focusing on the processes and relationships between the business, finance and the technology teams.
I’ve worked on a wide range of organisations – agnostic of sector – with hotels and leisure, FMCG and household chemicals, and automotive a few key highlights.
Oddly for a Mathematician turned account I also speak fluent French, spending a year during my degree in Chambery and later taking on a Parisian secondment.
